Dr. Aruna Uprety

 

Dr. Aruna Uprety founded Rural Health Education Service Trust in 1993 to help underserved communities access better health care and education. With experience in the health sector and an understanding of Nepalese women in rural communities, Dr. Uprety guided the women-led team to provide scholarships for girls at risk. Dr. Uprety has worked as a health advisor in other developing countries such as India, Laos, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, and Iran. She completed her Doctor of Medicine from Kharkov State Medical Institute, Ukraine (Former Soviet Union) and obtained a Master's degree in Women and Development from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands. 

 

Kamala Adhikari

 

Kamala Adhikari has worked in RHEST since its inception. She worked to expand RHEST in many districts and is now its chairperson. Mrs. Adhikari has worked for more than 30 years in girl's education through RHEST. Mrs. Adhikari has visited many rural areas of Nepal during her work with RHEST. She completed her Master's degree in History from Tribhuwan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. She was also a lecturer in Padma Kanya Campus and eventually served as its assistant campus chief. 

 

Mithila Regmi 

 

Mrs. Mithila Regmi is RHEST’s Vice-chairperson. Mrs. Regmi has been involved with RHEST for the past 11-12 years. She provides training, monitoring, evaluation, and counseling on health programs. As a trained staff nurse, she has been especially valuable to RHEST in its health programs. She has worked in the health sector for many years and has also worked with other NGO’s such as Red Cross and Family Planning Association of Nepal.

 

Dr. Shashi Adhikari

 

Dr. Shashi Adhikari, a law professor, has been working with RHEST since the beginning, and she is now its secretary. She provides legal support, training, and monitoring and evaluation. Through her activism, Dr. Adhikari has supported educating and increasing women’s decision-making role. Dr. Adhikari is a Ph.D. in law and is one of the few women law professors in Nepal. 


Laxmi Chaudhary

 

Laxmi Chaudhary is a general member of RHEST. She is one of the first alumni of Stop Girl Trafficking program. She started as a volunteer for Women Development Society, RHEST’s partner organization at Kailali and was later promoted to Assistant Accountant. Currently, Ms. Chaudhary is working as a program coordinator for Stop Girl Trafficking in Surkhet. She participated in the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) in the US where she represented Nepal. Ms. Chaudhary has completed her Master's degree in Business.

 

Krishna Laxmi Maharjan

 

Krishna Laxmi Maharjan is a general member of RHEST. She received support from RHEST through its Amar program. She worked as a volunteer of RHEST and supported SGT activities. Mrs. Maharjan has been working as an architect in the National Reconstruction Authority for the last two years. 

 

Sudipa Dhungana

 

Sudipa Dhungana joined RHEST as a volunteer and eventually became Amar Project’s Manager. Currently, she is RHEST’s board member. She has participated in several training programs in India and Nepal. Mrs. Dhungana has Master's degree on Psychology.

 

Sanubaba Ghimire

 

Mrs. Sanubaba Ghimire has been with RHEST for 16 years. She started out as a field officer and joined RHEST’s health and education project and also served as a board member. She is now RHEST’s treasurer. During this time, Mrs. Ghimire also worked with NGOs and INGOs. She has received various ‘Training of Trainers’ on reproductive health, gender programs, and counseling. Mrs. Ghimire has a Bachelor’s in Management and a Master's in Social Studies from Tribhuwan University.  

 

Nirmala Kumari B. K.


Nirmala Kumari B.K. is a general member of RHEST. She completed her high school after receiving help from Amar Program. Mrs. B.K is now social mobilizer for the District Development Committee in Chautara, Sindhupalchowk. She is also a member of the RHEST anti-trafficking advocacy group.
